Don’t run away, it’s only Soundography! And this week, we’re peeling back the layers on Oingo Boingo, a band that went from performance art troupe to new wave avant garde to post-punk powerhouse. Stay, one more night and listen to this show, won’t you? Don’t make us call out the reptiles and samurai.
I was surprised at Brian’s enthusiasm for “Dark at the End of the Tunnel”, which I like well enough but have never heard anyone else speak up for. When I saw that none of the songs from that album were included in the otherwise exhaustive “Farewell” double-CD, it made me wonder whether the band had disowned that material.
Also, god, when are we ever going to get a re-release of the Farewell concert video on Blu-Ray or iTunes? DVDs are going for $100+ on eBay and Amazon.
I agree completely!
