You’re bloody well right it’s a new episode of Soundography! And Hammond and Brian are surrounding themselves with the music of Supertramp while they take the long way home. Sit back and enjoy your breakfast with this new episode!

I’m only about 25 minutes in so far, but I really like that you pointed out how bold it is for “Paris” to come on the heels of the super-popular “Breakfast in America” but only include three of its songs. On the other hand, “Paris” includes every track but one from “Crime of the Century”. I remember finding the sheet music book to “Paris” at my college bookstore, and there was a statement in there(*) that the band wanted to create better-than-the-studio versions of their older songs. In a way, that kind of makes “Paris” their equivalent of Billy Joel’s “Songs in the Attic”.
(* – maybe it was in the LP package too, but it’s not in the booklet that came with the double CD I bought in 1987).
