Soundtracks are a great way to relive a favorite movie or explore new music. And the John Williams, Howard Shore, and such are great, but sometimes you want something a little different. That's where these cool non-traditional soundtracks coexist into play. Got a favorite? Let us know in the comments!

I love the duo of Two Steps from Hell. They are listed under Soundtracks but I cannot tell you what movies they are in. I just think of them as instrumental.
Great episode! 🙂
I have a few OST’s worth mentioning:
Chu Ishikawa’s soundtracks for the Tetsuo movies (Tetsuo – The Iron Man, Tetsuo – Body hammer, Tetsuo – The Bullet Man), experimental industrial, heavy on metallic percussion and the occasional typical Japanese elements.
I believe Trent Reznor provided the theme song for Bullet Man.
David Lynch & Alan Splet – Eraserhead (experimental ambient noise, weird & good)
Steve Moore – Cub (Belgian horrorfilm, American composer), darkambient drone with some Carpenter style synth parts.
(Koyaanisqatsi is probably my favorite soundtrack, by the way).
This was another brilliant episode, but I think you missed (or perhaps I did) a personal favourite of mine: the 1984 David Lynch version of Dune, composed and performed by Toto, with additional input from Brian Eno on the “Prophecy Theme”.
I can’t wait to hear how NIN approach the Tron: Ares soundtrack; I still have Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy on rotation.
And finally, a suggestion for a future episode along the same lines as this—are video game soundtracks something that you’d consider examining?
I’ve found some to be like film scores that I’ll happily add to my Spotify playlist to enjoy outside of the original game context.
Scores like those for Horizon: Zero Dawn, Horizon: Forbidden West and Death Stranding are worth taking a listen to.
