It's a brand new season of Soundography, and we're hitting the ground running with a genre-defining band: The Pet Shop Boys. With big thanks to Mark, a Patron whose support of the show inspired the subject of this episode, let's get season 2 rolling!

Just listened to the Pet Shop Boys episode – Just a quick notes on a couple of items:
1) The album Release has a song called “The Night I Fell in Love” – describes a (fictitious) relationship between a man and Eminem (their response after Eminem sang a song about running over the Pet Shop Boys) it’s why the song says “Your name isn’t Stan?”
2) Hands down, my favorite album is Behavior – probably takes a few listens, but that is a gorgeous album from start to finish – I think Very is the 2nd best – I agree 1st two albums are great, but I really think Behavior is their best cohesive work.
3) Go West is an outstanding cover because it takes the happy original that is looking forward to the future and full of optimism to PSB version that is now more introspective and you can tell there is sadness from a difficult road to get to where they are – knowing it was sung originally for an AIDS charity and with that in mind, it takes on an incredibly deeper meaning.
Wasn’t discussed in detail, but the songs that I would pick (outside of the Top 5 on both lists and the Most played in concert) are:
1) What Have I Done To Deserve This? w/ Dusty Springfield
2) So Hard (Behavior)
3) Can You Forgive Her? (Very)
4) Before (Bilingual)
5) Being Boring (Behavior)
Loved the show, thanks!
